The Chinese students enjoy a cook out. The English professors hosted the event along with Bill and Gail Patch. I am not sure of the exact number but I think we have about 50 students this year and more coming for next year. We had hot dogs, hamburgers, and all the food we would have at an American cook out. Games were played. You will see Bonnie in one of the photos attempting to kick a small object, much like hakensack (sp). I took pictures! Many of the students have a Buddhist background so the challenge is great here. I volunteered (like in the army) to teach a class of Chinese students about Christianity. Their concepts are so different from ours that presenting the gospel to them is quite difficult. I was told that Jesus is viewed as a western god. It makes me think in new categories. I spent my first session trying to communicate John 3:16. I could spend a semester on that verse alone! The concept of salvation needs explaining in detail. It was a fun and interesting time with the students. They said the session was helpful and interesting. I can only hope and pray that the Holy Spirit helps us to reach some for Christ. I did have a very good interpreter. (Later) I had my second session and it went very well. One student ask me that if she believed in Jesus could she take Him back to China with her! That is exciting. She is really searching and we are praying she takes Jesus back to Beijing with her. She must go back this month so this is our only opportunity with her. Planting seed.
