A Fun day at YeDalm Nazarene Church

This Sunday morning began with Phuong coming to our apartment at 9 to help Bonnie fix salad for dinner. It was out first time to provide the meal for the church; we were fixing spaghetti and a fruit salad. When she came into the room she saw a tie I had laid out to wear. She decided she wanted to try it on. She then decided to wear it to church! As the picture shows she loved it. I have written in earlier blogs how we feel Phuong is a real gift to us over here. She is lots of fun!

After getting Phuong "tied up" I had to hurry to the English church to speak to Chinese students about the upcoming sermon by the pastor. Each Sunday morning I go over scripture and help them understand the words and concepts they will hear in the sermon. My excellent interpreter, Mei (pronounced "May-ee"), from Taiwan, helps me. I then made a mad dash to the YeDalm Church where we were going to serve the dinner. Bonnie and I had been asked to sing that morning so we cooked a meal, sang a song, and I gave the benediction; a full morning, but fun. Phuong helped Bonnie cook the spaghetti at church. The kitchen there is small and hot. The girls cooked 7 packages of spaghetti and 10 jars of sauce! We served about 60 people. Yes, we had enough food.

Next week I will again speak to Chinese students, and then make a mad dash to the Dream Tree Church of the Nazarene where I will be preaching and help them celebrate the 100th anniversary of our denomination. Bonnie, Phuong, and Karissa (an American teaching in the Cheonan schools, and a college friend of our daughter, Jennifer), plan to join me there next Sunday. It should be fun. I just hope I get my tie back by then!
