It was early Sunday morning as we made the short walk to the subway station, headed for Seoul. We were going to see our new friends from Poland and China. I blogged a few months ago about how we all met on a crowded subway. Summer, the Chinese student, sat by me, and Bonnie sat with the Polish family. Summer was writing out her email address for me when the subway doors opened and Bonnie yelled, "this is our stop!" I had a part of an email address when I jumped out the door just before it closed leaving our new friends to continue on their journey. A few weeks later Radik, Aga, and Olivia were in our apartment sharing dinner with us. Today we were going to their place on the campus of Seoul National University and visit an English speaking international church service they all attend. It was a 2 hour subway ride, and then a short bus ride.
The service began in a very moving way for me. We all sang the chorus "God is so Good." We sang it in Korean, Zulu, Portuguese, Spanish, Chinese and English. Each time we changed languages the key changed. It was beautiful as the world sang together. What was special for me was I had been to all the countries except China that the languages represented; Mexico and Guatemala, Africa, Brazil, and of course America and Korea.
During the greeting time a girl from Guatemala introduced herself, and right behind me sat a student from Vietnam. To say the least I was at home. It was a great service. The Korean pastor spoke in good English. Following the service we ate together in one of the cafeterias on campus and visited. We then went on a short walking tour to see a very small part of the huge campus and ended with tea and coffee in our friends' apartment. We bought Olivia a coloring book in America and gave it to her there and she disappeared into her room enjoying her new book. She does a great job coloring as you can see in the picture. Again, I was reminded of what God is doing in the world. God is working in these places in such dynamic ways. What a treat to witness all of this and see it first hand. "God is so Good."
