Christmas Greetings

Sitting in an international church service in Singapore reminded me again of the vast diversity of people who make up the family of God.  Like Korea, and other parts of the world where I have worshiped, there were many countries represented as we sang traditional Christmas songs in English.  We concluded the service with communion which is one more symbol for me that illustrates vividly the world-wide connections between us and Christ.  No matter what format or method one uses, the bread and cup all point to Christ as a source of grace to every person regardless of race, language, and gender.  We all partook of the same elements recognizing our same need for the same grace offered through Jesus Christ.  Not a bad way to enter the Christmas week celebration!  These international worship services are true glimpses of what life will someday be with everyone hand in hand enjoying peace and fellowship.  I am reminded of what Paul said about the purpose of Christ coming:  God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself!  Yesterday I witnessed that purpose being fulfilled in a gymnasium somewhere in Singapore.  Merry Christmas from Singapore!
