Sometimes you just can't win

Deciding to eat a small lunch was our plan.  We decided to order 1 noodle meal and 1 "dumpling" dish and share.  This was our favorite Chinese restaurant and they always seem to serve too much food.  2 meals are just too much.  You know the over stuffed feeling!

They don't speak English there but we usually do OK ordering since we know the dishes in Korean.  Yes, it is a Korean Chinese restaurant where Chinese natives probably would not eat.  It is similar to the place I went to in Lenexa (KS)  that was Chinese and was told by the Chinese running the place that they wouldn't eat there because it is American Chinese. Having been to China 3 times I know exactly what they mean, it is not even close to the real McCoy.

Anyway, the food here is inexpensive and too much of it.  We ordered our small meal and waited.  We were not sure the new server understood us so I told Bonnie we may not get what we ordered but we will eat whatever they bring.  You have to do that a lot in a foreign country.  Sure enough, instead of bringing 1 noodle dish and 1 "dumpling" dish they brought us 2 of everything.  All we could do was smile and eat.  We did decide to bring some of the food home since it was so much.  When Bonnie went to pay they only charged us for the single meals we originally ordered.  In their attempt to explain in English we heard them say "service to you."  Translation:  "the other 2 dishes were on the house because you come here often and we like you."  So much for trying to cut back on lunch amounts and order simple.  Bonnie and I laughed outside saying, "We can't even go on a diet around here!"   Sometimes you just can't win!
