What a beautiful day it was with lower humidity, clear skies, and cooler temperatures in the 70's. Our Chuseok adventure turned out very well this morning. We actually did know our host. They go to a church where we have preached at a couple of times. It is difficult for us to remember people we have not seen for months.
Our breakfast was a real feast. I cannot name all the dishes but our table was full of food; fish, rice, a noodle dish, kimchi, green peppers stuffed with some sort of meat and egg filling, a crab dish, and many others I will not try to name or describe, but all delicious. It was topped off with tea and good conversation. The daughter had been in America to study so her English was good. Our host had to leave for a city near Seoul to be with family so we left around 11:00.
This evening we had a cook out with many English friends from the church and then we went to Baskin Robbins to see LePing and had ice cream.
LePing was so much fun last night. She showed us her countries recent "Independence Day" celebration on our computer. She explained the large parade in Beijing to us and we talked much about China and its history. At one point when they were showing Chinese flags flying I told LiPing I didn't see any American flags. When she finally realized what the word "flag" meant she looked at me and said in nearly perfect English, "if you take American flag to Tienanmen Square in this parade you will get long vacation!" We all laughed so hard the three of us almost feel off the couch.
